The Art of Aerial Cinematography

Aerial cinematography is a mesmerizing art that takes storytelling to new heights - literally! Imagine soaring through the skies, capturing awe-inspiring vistas and unique perspectives that traditional cameras could only dream of. From towering mountains to bustling cityscapes, and from epic action sequences to serene natural landscapes, aerial cinematography unveils a whole new world of visual storytelling possibilities. Through the lens of drones and high-tech aerial equipment, filmmakers and photographers are breaking boundaries and redefining creativity.

We love flying our FPV drones the most out of our entire fleet. You may ask, what is FPV? FPV stands for First Person View. The FPV drones that we fly here at Avionik Studios are flown by wearing goggles on our heads as if we are sitting inside the cockpit of the drone. Being able to feel like we are flying with the drone allows us to capture stunning shots as if we are actually flying ourselves. This skillset allows us to maneuver the camera wherever we want the camera to be placed. If the director specifically wants the camera to be in a risky spot that a human being could be in jeopardy, no problem as we can send the drones into that precarious location to capture just the shot that they were looking for. I have always had the passion for filmmaking. Being a filmmaker for years prior to aerial cinematography, I have been able to create the vision for filmmaking. When you are now able to take that vision and expand that into the airspace, the possibilities are unlimited. I feel like a kid flying around different obstacles and areas where I could have never imagined to put a camera. This expands into our Aviation content. being an aviation fanatic all my life, I have awed to be a pilot. being able to capture the beauty of aviation in a way like no other still makes me question reality to this day. Being one of the first drone pilots in the world to be able to capture this kind of footage legally, is truly an inspiration to my childhood. I have always wanted to capture footage of airplanes in a way that couldn’t be captured before. utilizing drones, capturing pilots perform their skill of piloting an aircraft in the air is finally captured in a dynamic way. Bringing ideas from filming on the ground like creating depth, finding the right light, and trying to create a story that can make you feel emotion through the screen, is how we strive to capture aerial filmmaking. Capturing an idea, but creating emotion from the sky is something that is desired by many, and can now be accomplished to fulfill any short story or ad.
